Apartment Review for Ballston Park - Arlington, VA

The prices go up $100/month EVERY YEAR regardless of how long you've lived there. The management is unresponsive at times and incredibly chincy when you move out or upgrade to a TH. They charge you $1000-$1500 EVERY time you move. These charges are things like $175 for Cleaning or $75 for Trash Removal (even if the dumpster is around the corner and the only refuse you've left could be carried in 2 arm-loads. The blinds break and then they charge you. They DO fix garbage disposals timely and for free, but if your roof leaks, they will not be around for weeks and when they come, the crew doesn't use a drop-cloth and you get ceiling spackle all over your pictures, diplomas, bed, playstation, globe, posters, dresser, tv...etc. Not cool. Parking is good IF you live by the run-off lot, otherwise, you have to walk quite a ways even though you live in front of another lot that ALWAYS has 33%-75% of it available. Why? They rent your PAID parking spaces out to local companies during the work week. I've come home for lunch numerous times to have NO spaces available and have to park in the wrong lot only to have to keep an eye out for the ever-present towing sharks that will tow you (and especially your guests) while you're in the backyard (they won't EVER stop to ask if that's your car). The neighborhood is only ok. There is some crime, some annoying kids, some roaches (that once you set up traps, they disapear completely), and some frat-boys. Not too bad though....oh yeah, the Halfway House has some choice residents across one of the parking lots....DO NOT LIVE NEAR THAT if you have a female in the house. Those guys stare, hoot-and-hollar, cat-call and just generally act completely rude and uncivilized at the mere sight of a woman, even if you're standing besider her, holding her effing hand!! They've never been violent, but I always steered clear of them and there HAVE been cars broken into when parked beside that complex.
