Apartment Review for Barac Co - Arlington, VA

been living here for 8 months. loved it when i first got here - great amount of space, good location, parking never a problem. never thought i'd be able to find a 1br that I could afford in arlington. a few roaches were around in the winter, but were contained to the kitchen and i could deal with it. then spring hit, and the roaches came out in full force. two varieties of them are Everywhere, and i've found a few 3" roaches in my apartment (at least they were already dead). management will send the exterminators out whenever you want, but they only pay to have them spray individual units, not the whole building, so it's pointless. the bugs live inside the walls so only a whole-building treatment would do any good. i'm leaving as soon as my lease is up. also - you can't control the heat in the winter (it's just turned on for 5 months), so the top floor gets really hot. kept my windows open all winter and was still hot. i imagine other floors were probably fine. this must be the only place in arlington you can get a 1br for under $1000, but the price reflects the conditions. if you don't cook at all and call the exterminators every other week, maybe you could keep the bugs at a manageable level? but if you don't like living with bugs, better pay more to live somewhere else.
