Apartment Review for Historic Ballston - Arlington, VA

The location of these apartments within walking distance of the Ballston metro and on three bus lines is hard to beat. The rent is cheaper than the high rises and some truly luxury apartments in the vicinity, but I have also had problems with leaks/mold. It is apparently normal that these apartments leak in places. The maintenance people came and they said to call them back if the leak was more than just a softening ceiling, which they just painted over. The apartments are pretty good with washer and dryer and multiple windows on more than one side of the building. There is mold that grows around the windows and I don't think they are very well-insulated. It is better to be on the second floor so you do not have to worry so much about noisy people above you. Also, the apartments along Glebe get a lot of traffic noise. The grounds are nice with the old trees. There have been some peeping tom incidents and some crimes such as vandalism of cars. The neighborhood can have roaming bands of young men at times that might scare single females off, but I have not had any major troubles after about 4 years.
