Elevator down a year
Review Date: 5/28/2007 Reviewer: Anonymous
I would not recommend Dittmar. We've had an elevator out of service in this 500 unit building for about a year now. The owner's policy is to tell the tenants nothing proactively. The elevator has sat unposted, leaving it to busy tenants to inquire and complain. Living near the top of the building with a baby, this has made for some long and frustrating waits--once 25 minutes thanks to reserved elevators. All the tenants quip and gripe about the problem and the lack any shown concern by the company. The worst to us personally, Dittmar has never replied to any of our letters, sent back in November, February, and then April about the situation. Nothing. When you completely ignore direct inquiry from your customer, that's total disregard. Aside from that, the first parking place we were assigned had a low pipe that left marks on our SUV's hatchback door, just by unloading or loading items. One time we came back home from work and there was a hole in the ceiling above our space and it was blocked by an orange cone. Nobody knew why. Parking spaces are assigned to capacity so it took months to get reassigned. Maintenance will respond quickly to issues, but when we moved in we had some pretty ridiculous move-in problems: the oven didn't work, the garbage disposal didn't work, the telephone jack in the kitchen didn't work, and the guest bathroom sink leaked badly underneath into the cabinet. I had to wonder where my non-refundable fee had gone. When blowing rain came in September, our master bedroom carpet against the wall got drenched from water leaking in through the wall. Noise isn't bad on the north side of the building right now. We still like the double pane of glass that block out most noise. It looks like a new condo project will be changing all that across the street sometime soon. When the new building work replaces the funeral home, the north side will also lose peace and quiet, and then a good portion of its favorable view. Unlike most high rises in the area, there isn't a security check at the front. You need to treat your apartment door as a door out to the street to be safe. The staff are mostly friendly and helpful, with one notable exception who makes you feel like you're bothering him to provide any service. The rest has been a fair experience. The most dissatisfying thing about living here has been Dittmar's demonstrated lack of responsiveness and care for their tenants. I would not recommend one of their properties based on our experience. |
