Apartment Review for Sheffield Courts - Arlington, VA

We lived at this property for two years- After our lease was up for the first year the management company tried to raise our rent for a tiny 1 br apt from 1200 to over 1500- even though they were advertising our same apartment on their website for 1275. We eventually got them down to honor the advertised rate- The walls are paper thin- We could hear everything going on in our neighbors apartment. We were on the top floor and every time it rained hard it would leak into our apartment. After several complaints to the management office they sent some people to supposedly fix the problem- they didn't- the next time it rained the same thing- The leak got so bad that it started to grow mold on the ceiling. This mold was in addition to the mold growing on the window sill as a result of the condensation on the terrible windows. They allow dogs and charge a pet rent every month but they do not stock the bags in the courtyard or enforce other pet owners to pick up after their pets- dog waste everywhere. Parking is an absolute nightmare. The appliances in the units are old. After we had left we received notice from the Sheffield Court management office that we were being billed $150 to clean the carpet that they said was stained- the stains were the result of the leaking roof.
