Apartment Review for The Reserve At Clarendon Centre - Arlington, VA

I have lived here for 2 1/2 years and generally, I love this building. My big complaint is with the gym, and management's response to the problems in the gym. I exercise regularly. I have physical limitations that make it necessary for me to use an elliptical for cardio, rather than a treadmill. The ellipticals break down frequently, and once they break down, they stay broken for a long time. Management seems completely incapable of resolving the problems quickly, and presently all three ellipticals have been broken for two consecutive weeks. At other times, one or more have been broken for several months at a time. In addition, there seems to be little or no control over the temperature in the gym. It has been as low as 62 in the winter and as high as 80 last week. I hate spending my time emailing management to complain, but what else can I do? Simply accept that my rent money - which is supposed to include these amenities - is partly going to waste? I hate that management does not keep the residents informed of the timetable for repairs, and that it seems to view responding to emails as optional. I hate that money is being spent to rehab the movie theatre (I hear it is currently getting $4,000 in upgrades... I wonder how many people use the theatre vs. the number who use the gym???). As I said, lots to love about this building, this is not one of them.
